Test Chamber – The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is an amazing comic book series, a popular television show (although I don't like it), and now an enthralling, episodic video game adventure. Ben Reeves, Ben Hanson, and Jason "Ben" Oestreicher joined me for a look at the game's intense introductory moments. Although we yap over most of the story content, this video shows off the combat mechanics, conversation system, and environment interaction. All told, this a great glimpse at Telltale's suspenseful adaptation of Robert Kirkman's work.

Sit back, enjoy this video, and if you have the time on your hands, check out our Test Chamber hub for more episodes.

  • Wow, three Test Chambers in one week. Thanks, Reiner!
  • Wow, you guys are really pumping these out!

  • This is actually my first contact with The Walking Dead. From what I've seen, that's probably not a bad thing.
  • I played the demo and didn't like it but I'm still willing to give the game a go. maybe at some other time down the line.
  • Now all I can see is that evil face...

  • I'm liking the amount of videos you guys are putting out each week!

  • I love how frequently Test Chambers come out, though it still won't fill the hole in my heart where Reiner and Phil used to be. Also that other hole where the Half-Life super replay should be, but it still does a good job of filling my other holes.
  • I like to think that the true test chamber is actually Reiner testing his employees and doing performance judgements one video at a time.

And at the end of the year it'll be like... "Dan, you died more in Trials than every other video combined.  Fired!"

  • I just beat the game, what you see here is about as far as the gameplay goes throughout the whole thing, which I didn't think was bad. Really great game for a really great show.

  • no no no, MR. bens i respectfully disagree. Heavy rain had a very interesting story and so does this game but i still have to give it to Heavy Rain :3
  • Question: Will Zombies ever get old?
  • Guys please, just curse. We don't care anymore and I'm sure half the "kids" on the internet curse like sailors. I cringe at replacement curse words. Shiyeeeahh
  • I love Test Chamber! I love the frequency even more!
  • I was kinda hoping for a Risen 2 test chamber. Just to see if the combat is on par with the first game's or worse, as I saw the same problems in the first game that are mentioned in the Risen 2 review.

  • At first I wasn't going to play this game, but seeing it in action I'm willing to give it a try. I really don't like the show...at all, hopefully the game redeems this franchise for me ( I have yet to read the comics ).

  • Downloading this game now, $5 is a good price. I'm really into the show so I can't wait to see what happens here. Also, I love you guys, but you need to quiet down sometimes when you're showing us a game. "This game has great voice acting." Then you talk over 98% of it. lol
  • That (but I don't like it) is a useless aside. This is not a review or opinion piece on the show, doesn't relate.

Frankly it reads like the author inserting himself into a story.
  • I can't wait until season 3 of the show...

  • A couple days ago in that Wii graphics article there was a discussion about Reiner apparently needing a hand model and I said he should ask David Duchovny, and in this Reiner mentions a hand model and then says David Duchovny. Coincidence? Well yes maybe but I like to think I had something to do with it.
  • After seeing this I had to create an account to voice my opinion on this game. I saw the TV series first, (both series), then read all the comics, then obviously played the first part of this game.

I was amazed every step of the way through this game. As much as I do love the comics and the TV show, I didn't care at all about them during the game. I was completely involved in the story, and the main character Lee. Any link back to the other material was a bonus.

This is the first game i've ever played of this type, and that may be why I enjoyed it so much, but damn, it was simply so well done! I was sceptical of the graphics style at first, but after 10 mins I was not phased at all. Although I didn't notice the soundtrack much at the start, about 1/3 of the way through it became apparent and was great, really adding to the mood of the game.

I don't know how to keep my views on this short. The sound was great. The storytelling and characters were great, to the point where I was slightly weirded out about what other characters seemed to assume about my characters relationship to another I had found early in the game.

All I can say really is that I cannot wait for the next episode, and i'm sure i'll feel the same after I get the next. I love this game. In the age of action games and FPS's that i've grown up in this was a welcome and refreshing relief. I urge anyone who thinks they may be in any way interested by what they've seen in this video to try it out.

Also, WHERE THE HELL IS THE HALF LIFE SUPER REPLAY?!?! I'm dying here :'(
