Next Rocksteady Batman Game Set In Silver Age?

He's already explored Arkham Asylum and cleaned up the streets of Arkham City. What's next on that crazy Batman guy's agenda? If rumors turn out, he may be going back in time to the Silver Age.

Variety is passing along word that Warner Bros. and Rocksteady are working on the series' next installment, which supposedly centers around the Caped Crusader's first meeting with the Joker. If those rumors are true, Batman won't be doing it alone. According to Variety's unnamed source, the Justice League will somehow be involved in the story. Whether they'll be playable in the campaign or just as backup (a la Nightwing) remains to be seen. Of course, that assumes that there's any validity to the story in the first place.

Regardless, it's certainly fun to think about. Any guesses on how Superman would be prevented from essentially breaking the game? Perhaps all of the Joker's goons will have Kryptonite gloves?

  • This sounds incredible. Wait, does this mean that Hamill will be coming out of retirement?!?!
  • If this is true, it's the best news I've heard all year. Forget Supes breaking the game, what about Flash?
  • So much win in that! I would love to go back to the beginning stages of the Joker vs. Batman!

Destroying crime as the JUSTICE LEAGUE!

  • They better not break the series's amazing single-player experience by adding multiplayer or co-op.
  • Holy crap, this sounds like it could be amazing, only problem is Joker. I thought Mark Hamill said he was done voicing the character.
  • This could be interesting ,if it is true, with Rocksteady making the game I'm sure it will be a hit but if anyone but Mark Hamill is The Joker it isn't worth having him in it and the game should focus on another villain and yes i know a Batman any thing without The Joker is like breakfast without bacon, just not worth it, but Rocksteady has done a great job with developing The Riddler within the two games and I feel that if they made another game The Riddler would fit in nicely as the main villain and they could craft a fantastic with The Riddler.

Edit: I don't read comics so I was probably talking out of my arse when I made that comment because I'm working off of very little knowledge about the vastly larger universe that is the comic world, and the bulk of the knowledge that i do have comes mainly from movies,tv shows, and games so if my opinion has any validity at all I may not know.
  • So they're taking Lego Batman and making it a Rocksteady game...
  • Why not an Adam West/Burt Ward Batman game?

I mean, seriously. They ain't dead or nothin'.
  • as a huge fan of both of the arkham games I think that I speek for most fans when I say that this sounds like an amazing and awesome addition to this series!
  • I can't even tell you how on board with this I am. Especially if it visually resembles a Silver Age book. That, to me, is infinitely more interesting than the realistic and drab look of the Arkham games.
  • I would much rather have a follow-up to the Arkham City than have a prequel involving the Justice League. Plus Arkham City already set Scarecrow, Hush, and Azrael up for the next game.
  • I have played both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and platinumed them. But can anyone tell me what is the Silver Age?
  • Just when I think I'm getting out, they pull me right back in.

  • I trust them implicitly.  Which is strange, as normally I don't trust anyone with Comic licenses.

  • This could be interesting, can't wait to see if it turns into something.

  • Omg This is the greatest news ive heard all day!!!!

  • Nice. They need to do something different like this. Arkham City didn't quite have the same great effect on me that the amazing Arkham Asylum did.
