PopCap Games announced a sequel to its hit franchise, appropriately named Plants vs. Zombies 2, for release next year. PopCap is not sharing any details about the title at the moment, other than to say that it's coming out in late Spring of 2013.

Even though nobody knows exactly what's going to be in the game yet, it's safe to say that the franchise's format likely won't change any time soon.

I'm one of the few that was kinda meh about PvZ. I played it, and enjoyed it, but it just wasn't memorable to me. I'd much rather see a sequel to Pixel Junk Monsters.

They need to change it up.. While Plants vs Zombies was fun to fool around in, it wasn't a challenge at all. Once you figured out what you needed for the level, all you had to do was do one row of a certain plant, one row of this plant, two rows of this plant, etc. B O R I N G. The closest thing to mixing this up was the dancer, which I'm glad I got it straight from Popcap back when it was still MJ.

I hope the PC/Mac version doesn't get neglected this time. PvZ doesn't even run in HD or Widescreen on those platforms, but on everything else it's great.
