The lights are on
Sea of Thieves is planned for release this year, and Rare is putting the game through rigorous testing with alpha testers and it has new footage to share of that process.
In the latest video you will see gunplay, skeleton combat, and the newly added fall damage. Turns out it is going to hurt to jump from the top of a mountain down onto your pirate ship.

This was a much better trailer. None of that annoying nonsense commentary the group of people had before. This game really looks intriguing and kind of reminds me of no man's sky but on sea kind of. Let's hope this has better results.
I am interested in this game to play with my wife and other family/friends. Hope it turns out to be fun.
This reminds me of Project Spark. It just seems to have that look. And I tried a few worlds built by players in that and they were not bad. For whatever reason I could see something like this coming from that tool.
"indeterminately large world". I wonder how big it really is. This game has lots of potential. Hopefully they announce guilds or something similar with progression. I can see this as a successful F2P like EVE or something.
Hope this game turns out to be great. Even if they have very little relation to the Rare of the 90s, I still would love for the company to come back in a big way. I grew up on Banjo Kazooie, DKC, and DKR.
Looks great to me and I can't wait to check it out atleast.
So is this game multiplayer only ?
This game makes me want a new borderlands lol
I'm still not sure about this game. If it relies on players coming up with random stuff to do, I'll pass because the world does look pretty empty. Then again, that's how a lot of people felt when they first saw Breath of the Wild. The gunplay looks a little odd. Hopefully there will be a few different options for weapons. I love the visuals. This game has a lot of potential. I can envision battling sea monsters, searching for hidden treasure via old maps or clues from a random conversation you overheard, pillaging small towns for resources, discovering new land, trading goods with other sailers, porting for the night to hit up the pubs and....wenches (oh, the wenches)! And maybe there will be an underlying tale to follow, similar to what Bungie did with Destiny. Yeah, if Rare can provide all of this and more, we'll have a blast when it drops this year!
I remain hopeful that this game will be great. It looks a bit empty right now, but I think that's to keep from spoiling anything. I think this could be pretty great.
