Game Informer offers internship opportunities at our headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota for college students and recent graduates interested in journalism and publishing.
Game Informer's internships are unpaid, but we do assist interns in arranging for academic or work-study credit.
Internships require at least a three-month on-site commitment, working five days a week, Monday through Friday, 11 AM to 6 PM.
The program is designed to help interns learn about the intricacies of video game journalism by giving them an opportunity to practice clerical, fact-checking, copy-editing, research, and reporting duties. Successful interns will even see stories published both online and in print.
To apply, please send a resume, writing samples (at least 3), and a cover letter to:

The number one question that is asked of Game Informer is, "how do I get a job reviewing video games?" There are many different career opportunities at Game Informer, including our internship program for aspiring editors, but being a staff writer is always top of the list.
Remember, editors are not game testers. Game journalism is the practice of reporting, fact checking, and creating entertaining and informative prose about the interactive entertainment industry.
Ideal candidates for a position at Game Informer should possess extensive knowledge of pop culture, video game history, and a voracious appetite for games. While writing-specific college degrees like Mass Communications, Journalism, or English are preferred, Game Informer acknowledges that accomplished writers can come from many different backgrounds. Courses in creative writing, new media, and broadcasting are also beneficial to landing jobs in today's media market. Game design and programming experience are a plus.
Game Informer does not accept freelance submissions.
